Catching up

Monday

(Yes I know it's really Tuesday) I'm catching up on blog posts since my data month started over today and I have a signal here!

Monday was a rainy day but allowed me to catch up on hours at work.  I'm in North Carolina for my second T@B Blue Ridge Rally, which officially starts on Wednesday.  Not in my T@B this year but there are going to be three other airstreams here so I still feel at home.  Sharon of Postcards From the Road blog puts on this rally every year and it's such fun... I can't believe how much work she puts into making sure everyone has a great time.

A Florida friend I met through the T@B group (Judy) and I braved the rain in the afternoon and wandered around West Jefferson to look around.

Travel Day

Saturday

Travel day.  Beautiful day for a drive and I'm on the road before the storm system gets to Nashville.  Following Garmin to West Jefferson, North Carolina.  Sometimes Garmin is my best friend...sometimes, not so much!  Looong drive - not many miles but took forever through the mountain roads... up into Virginia and back to NC.  Pretty sure this wasn't the fastest way but at least it was scenic :-)

Softball...winding up Nashville visit

Thursday - Saturday

A day at the computer and more granddaughter time.  Dinner with my eldest daughter and her daughter on Friday, shopping with the other two granddaughters earlier in the day.  Saturday was a Girls Fast Pitch Tournament for Vera and Maureen.  The weather was hot and wonderful but severe storms are on the way so I'm leaving early on Sunday to get to my next destination before they roll in.
I love visiting but I HATE saying goodbye...

Small Towns

Wednesday

The week is flying by... after a day at the computer and a bit of rain yesterday, today was warm and sunny again.  Took Grace and Dillon on a long walk around the camp, trying to convince Grace to leave the ducks alone.

This afternoon I drove over to Bell Buckle Cafe for lunch with my daughter (and some strawberry cake).  I love this little railroad village - downtown is about a block long with the cafe and art, antique and gift shops. (Click on the link for more info about this town).

Visiting Family

Easter with the Family

Next stop, Manchester KOA.  Ridiculously expensive so part of this trip will be scouting out other places to stay next time.  I wanted hook-ups since I am here for the whole week - but I'm paying for that in nightly rates and right off the interstate (read LOUD).  They do have lots of room for dog walking and playing though.

Easter dinner with family at Cracker Barrel - no one cooked this year
Superkids :-)  Playing around at the KOA
Sunrise at camp - view from back of trailer

and hanging out at the campsite

Next Stop...

Thursday - Sunday

Made it through Atlanta and over Mount Eagle without any issues.  I have done this trip so many times, but it was the first time pulling the airstream.

Tennessee is so beautiful this time of year.  I don't miss winter, but I do miss that first blush of spring where everything is so green it almost hurts your eyes.  Flowering trees are all blooming...

Stopped in Lebanon for a few days to visit with friends-

Our campsite

Dogwoods are blooming...

And the bluebells...

And the redbuds...which are beautiful and then you remember
how they stick to your car, and trailer, and everything else :-)

On the Road

Obligatory "big guy, little guy" photo

Wednesday, April 16

Left Florida last Wednesday after all day rain on Tuesday to lots of sunshine and WIND!  We stopped about 80 miles shy of Atlanta at a small RV park off the interstate.  $19 with Passport America.

Can anyone tell me what type of tree this is?  Lavender blooms...

The Countdown Begins

Bathed and ready for our trip!

Almost on the road...

This little guy was watching me drink coffee this morning
Picked up Breezin' and brought her home
And gave her a much needed bath

Now just waiting out the storm before we leave...
